Connected watch sales: Apple Watch dominates, Huawei gets closer to Samsung
Apple Watch dominates sales
Apple recorded the best results in its history for a third quarter, with a 7% increase in sales compared to last year. This result is all the more notable as the Apple Watch Series 9 was released a little later than the previous year. Good sales of the second-generation Apple Watch SE also contributed to the growth.
Despite everything, Apple's market share does not change: we remain at 45%. On the other hand, there is development for other manufacturers, including Samsung which sees its market share drop from 24% to 18%. This is because sales of its Galaxy Watches fell 19% year-on-year and Huawei is taking up more and more space. In fact, the Chinese manufacturer saw its sales increase by 56%. The increase is even 122% if we focus only on high-end watches. All this allows it to have a market share of 14%, compared to 7% last year.
In total, sales of connected watches were up 9% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period a year earlier. The main drivers of this growth were the sustained performance of the Indian market, led by Fire-Boltt, as well as the notable rebound of Huawei in China.
Speaking of connected watches, there is currently a promotion with the Apple Watch SE 2, 40 mm, GPS, Aluminum case and Sport Bracelet at €249 instead of €279. The model with the 44mm case is available for €279 instead of €309.
