trade unionists relaunch the “dead chalk” operation after a week of minimum service

In a letter made public last weekend and addressed to public sector teachers, who have been on strike since the start of the school year last September, the union collective calls on the strikers to end the minimum service. It was on November 13 that this minimum service was launched for reasons that trade unionists do not keep secret.
“The minimum service has imposed itself in that several teachers are facing serious threats. Most of them were obliged to provide a minimum service. By deciding on a minimum week of service, it was a question of allowing each teacher to do so in complete peace of mind,” says Xavier Vemba, of the On a Too Supported (OTS) movement. He also mentions that during this minimum service, which lasted a week, unionists worked to boost the morale of the strikers on the social media platforms dedicated to this strike so that the latter did not give in to threats.
Except that despite this week dedicated to minimum service, negotiations with the government on the special status of teachers have not evolved. Consequence: since November 20, the strike has resumed with a vengeance in public secondary establishments, as Xavier Vemba points out. “We are returning to the front with renewed energy and resilience. This will be the case for the next three weeks, barring exceptional changes,” we can read in the letter from the unionists mentioned above.
This week therefore marks the return of operation “dead chalk”. As during the minimum service week, teachers go to work, except that they are not required to teach lessons, do evaluations, participate in educational seminars, keep statistics or even fill out school report cards. .
