Cameroon is hosting the first national meeting on recycling in Yaoundé on March 17 and 18, 2023. This event is organized by the Green Life Act association under the theme “Recycling: green job niche and local development opportunities”.
The purpose of this meeting is to make the general public aware of the advantages and opportunities offered by recycling, to present the different recycling sectors, to develop value chains for local actors, to mobilize local actors around a network operational for the circular economy and to plead in favor of support from public authorities for the development of this sector.

Unfortunately, recycling remains an undervalued sector in Cameroon, because local initiatives are not sufficiently supported and trades related to recycling are considered as sub-trades. Green Life Act regrets this situation and believes it is important to encourage and support the development of this sector to ensure environmental sustainability and local economic development.

The participants in this meeting include actors of the circular economy, students, local authorities, researchers, responsible companies and public authorities committed to the protection of the environment. They will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss strategies to promote and popularize the practice of recycling in Cameroon.
The National Recycling Fair (Sanar) – An opportunity to promote recycling in Cameroon
The National Recycling Fair (Sanar) will take place on March 17 and 18, 2023 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Organized by the Cameroonian association Green Life Act, the event will bring together circular economy actors, students, local authorities, researchers, corporate citizens and public authorities to discuss the promotion and popularization of the recycling.

Theme: "Recycling: green job niche and local development opportunities"
The aim of this first edition of Sanar is to show the advantages and opportunities of recycling, recycling channels and to develop value chains. The show will also bring recycling players together around an operational circular economy network, advocate with public authorities for support for the circular economy and stimulate a green purchasing policy.
An opportunity to promote recycling
Green Life Act deplores the fact that recycling is undervalued in Cameroon due to the lack of support for local initiatives and that trades related to recycling are considered as sub-trades with an unskilled workforce. The association therefore works with national and international partners to organize Sanar 2023.

Training workshops, eco-jogging sessions, games and challenges
The fair will feature training and coaching workshops to teach recycling techniques, eco-jogging sessions to learn how to properly sort and recycle waste, as well as games and challenges. Awareness stands will also be set up to present local initiatives.
Local development opportunities
Adopting the circular economy in Cameroon will not only reduce pollution, but also create jobs and local development. This model has already proven itself in Egypt, Ghana and South Africa.
In conclusion, the National Recycling Fair is a unique opportunity to promote recycling in Cameroon and to show the advantages and opportunities it offers.
