Who is Strange Supreme?
MCU fans who are already in the know about everything Marvel has kicked off this year know that Strange Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) is appearing in What if…? Episode 4. The Avengers superhero transforms into a prominent villain in a different timeline. Rather than lose his hands, Strange loses the love of his life in this universe, Christine Palmer (Rachel McAdams). As in Strange doctor, his need to fix things consumes him to the point of becoming an evil version of Strange.
He's willing to do whatever he can to bring Christine back, which ultimately leads Strange to destroy his entire universe. The Marvel team and cast teased this the weird episode might be the best in What if…?, and we finally understand why.
It's a dark story, which doesn't have a happy ending. Instead, we see Strange Supreme killing everyone, defeating the good Doctor Strange in the process.
The Spider-Man: No Path Home trailer twist
The moment you see Strange Supreme in What if…?, you should have witnessed some strange behavior by the MCU's Main Doctor Strange by now. The main timeline wizard supreme will perform an experimental and dangerous spell in No way home make everyone forget that Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is Spider-Man.
From the moment Sony released the trailer, fans tried to figure out Doctor Strange. One theory says that the weird one we see in the trailer might be a more villainous version. It might be Mephisto disguised as Strange.
After What if…?, you start to wonder if we are considering a variant of Strange that goes evil, just like Strange Supreme did in the animated series.

Doctor Strange Supreme is important to Marvel
We learned in an interview with the What if…? Editing team Kevin Feige was heavily involved in the making of the animated series. In particular, Marvel's senior executive focused on the Doctor Strange episode where the evil Supreme Strange appears.
It was important for Feige to make sure the episode sticks to the landing. This indicates that the episode could be important to the grand scheme of things. What if…? the events are MCU canon stories from other parallel timelines. And while it doesn't seem clear from the episodes we've seen so far, there is a global story for the animated series.
Back in Feige, here's what What if…? assembly team Joel Fisher and Graham Fisher told The Direct about Feige's role in the episode Strange Supreme:
He said “I feel like it's all over the place, how can we simplify it? And he posed to the writer, and he said, 'Present him to me in this form. And she just started playing rhythm by rhythm, he would just say "bink, bink, bink, bink, bink", and he was just like "That's it". Yes, that's what we need to clarify the story and get it to land right. And so we put him together at the next screening and he said, “It's fantastic.
The mysterious faceless interview with Benedict Cumberbatch
If Feige's involvement in What if…? Episode 4 is not enough to prove that Strange Supreme will appear in Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness, then we have even better proof.
In mid-March, Cumberbatch gave a Zoom interview where the camera was pointed at the ceiling. By the way, you're looking at a ceiling because I can't show you my face because I'm filming Strange doctor and everything is under embargo.
We didn't think what to do with this revelation at the time. What could be so revealing about showing her face? Rumors have said that Strange may have a different costume for Multiverse of madness. Could this be a Supreme Strange costume?
Supreme weird in What if…? episode 4 is different from Doctor Strange as we know it. He looks devilish and the cape he's wearing has a different design. On that note, the cape fight scene is one of the highlights of Episode 4. Could Cumberbatch have been wearing the Supreme Strange cape during this Zoom call? We may never know. But Cumberbatch was clearly trying to prevent massive leaks at the time.
