Meghan Markle's baby: Mills discusses name of royal newborn

Harry and Meghan revealed they were expecting a girl in March during their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey. They have made headlines several times this year as they have spoken of the shocking reasons for their departure from the royal family last year. But despite their differences with the Cabinet, their The girl was named Lilibet after the family nickname of the Queen, the baby's great-grandmother, while her middle name was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales, the couple said.

A source previously told Page Six that the couple will now take "some free time" to adjust to life with their new daughter.

They said, “They will both take some free time.

"It will be summer and they want to make sure they both take their time off so they have a good time together once the baby arrives." "

In March, Meghan accused an anonymous member of the royal family - neither The Queen nor The Duke of Edinburgh - of racism, saying they were concerned about Archie's skin color before he was born.

The Duchess also called the institution for not helping her when she was suicidal.

The Queen responded by saying the issues were taken "very seriously" but "some memories may vary" and the matter would be dealt with by the family in private.

Lilibet - the Queen's family nickname - was first used when Princess Elizabeth was just a toddler and unable to pronounce her own name correctly.

Her grandfather, King George V, affectionately called her "Lilibet" imitating his own attempts to say Elizabeth.

The sweet nickname stuck and she became Lilibet for her family from that point on.

The Duke of Edinburgh also called his wife Lilibet, writing to his mother-in-law after their marriage: “Lilibet is the only 'thing' in the world that is absolutely real to me. "

Harry and Meghan's new baby girl - the Queen's 11th great-granddaughter - will be known as Lili.

A variation of the lily, the flower is often seen as a symbol of purity, commitment, rebirth and fertility.

Lili's middle name, Diana, honors Harry's future mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

It's no surprise the couple chose to pay tribute to Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997 when Harry was just 12 years old.

Lili was born almost a month before the princess turned 60 on July 1.

Lili's cousin, Princess Charlotte, also has Diana as a middle name, as well as Elizabeth. She is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

" It is more than we could have imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and the prayers we have felt around the world.

"Thank you for your continuation kindness and support during this very special time for our family. "
