The investigating judge Jean Betea paved the way for a trial of the Mebe Ngo'o couple, imprisoned since March 2019 in Kondengui prison. On August 26, he drew up the order for dismissal ofEdgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o and Bernadette Mebe Ngo'o - as well as their co-defendants Ghislain Victor Mboutou Ellé, Victor Emmanuel Menye et Maxime Léonard Mbangue - before the special criminal court of Yaoundé.

According to this document, that Young Africa was able to consult, the former Minister of Defense is accused of embezzling more than 20 billion F CFA (nearly 30,5 million euros), violation of the public procurement code (including damage to the State is estimated at 196,8 billion F CFA), corruption, illegal taking of interest and money laundering.
