Meghan Markle title shock: how losing Meghan and Harry's title would have impacted Archie

Prince Harry et Meghan Markle, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, risked losing their titles in the Brighton and Hove area after an online petition was launched by a resident of Sussex. But what would it have meant for the royal couple and especially for their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor?

An online petition in the UK, launched in early July, called on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to have their royal titles withdrawn.

The organizer of the petition, Charles Ross, a resident of Sussex, sought to reject the use of the titles "Duke of Sussex" and "Duchess of Sussex" by the royal couple.

By the close of the petition earlier this week, she had collected 3 signatures and, therefore, was presented at the Brighton and Hove Council meeting in Sussex.

However, the royal couple were spared the loss of their royal titles in this area after the council voted in their favor.

The petition was closed on December 18 and submitted to council on December 19.

He said: "We, the undersigned, petition the Brighton & Hove Council to reject the use of the titles 'Duke of Sussex' and 'Duchess of Sussex' by the individuals Henry ('Harry') Windsor and Rachel Meghan Markle as morally wrong and disrespectful to the county of East Sussex. "

"As residents of Brighton and Hove, we call on the Brighton and Hove Council not to refer to these people with titles that we believe are entirely undemocratic and symbolic of the oppression of the general public by the wealthy elite.

"The Brighton Council will not invite, entertain, or extend hospitality or courtesy beyond that of a member of the public. "

Councilors from Brighton and Hove met this week to discuss the petition.

Ross said he had no intention of offending Meghan and Harry, but that he believed in "strong Republican sentiment" across the UK.

He said: "This is an ideal opportunity to put this city on the map as an avant-garde and modern city which rejects archaic and obsolete feudal ceremonies and removes our caps from the aristocracy in favor of social justice and equity for all.

"Indeed, it would be a great honor and a moment of pride if our good advisers had the courage today to put Brighton on the path to the first openly republican city in the United Kingdom."

Thomas Mace-Archer-Mills, the founder of the British Monarchists Society, expressed his sincere disappointment in the community for the petition.

He said Express.co.uk: "A royal title does not necessarily give an elevation to the person who holds it, but even more to the area in which the title originates.

“The chandelier and elevation of a titled royal person also gravitate with the location that gave the name to this royal title.

"Despite all the feelings and real motivation behind Mr. Ross' attempt to dedicate himself to the" Republican hero of Sussex ", a title he would surely like to use, his efforts will be and will continue to be in vain as long as there will have people, and organizations such as the British Monarchists Society, who see, understand and realize the educated need of our beloved monarchy and the dear Crown. "

But what would have happened if the Sussex couple had been stripped of their title?

Royal titles are an honor given to members of the Royal family.

However, on occasion, they were robbed when members were seen breaking the rules of monarchical life.

For example, in October, the King of Thailand Vajiralongkorn stripped his royal wife of his rank and titles for "misconduct and disloyalty to the monarch".

The official announcement said that Sineenat Wongvajirapakdi had been "ambitious" and had tried to "rise to the same condition as the queen".

In the case of Prince Harry and Meghan, received their titles on their wedding day from the Queen.

Removing the titles would mean that they would no longer be classified as members of the royal family and would likely no longer be able to use public funds, including property, vehicles and more that are publicly funded.

The couple would no longer perform their royal office on behalf of the crown, nor act as a representative or queen or any other monarch in any way.

As a result, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor would also be unable to become a working royal and would most likely find employment elsewhere.
