PSG: Neymar unavailable for four weeks

Neymar, injured right foot Wednesday in friendly with Brazil and package for the Copa America, will be unavailable four weeks, announced Saturday night the Paris SG. The two doctors of the Parisian club, left Friday at Brazil to examine the attacker, "have diagnosed a sprain of the lateral ligament external of the right ankle without surgical indication," said the PSG in a statement posted on its site.

"The treatment of this injury will be articulated around a functional rehabilitation", it is specified. "The return of the Paris Saint-Germain striker should take place within four weeks," before the resumption of the 1 League weekend of August 10, according to the statement.

Farewell to Copa America

The PSG should therefore not be penalized by the injury of its star player, as it had been this winter, when Neymar, victim of a rupture of the ligaments of the same right ankle in January, had put two months before he can return to the fields. He had notably missed the knockout stages of the Champions League against Manchester United, fatal to the Paris club.

Wednesday, Neymar was out at the 16e minute of Brazil's friendly against Qatar (2-0) in Brasilia, complaining of pain in his right ankle. Examined by Seleçao's doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, "Ney" returned to the locker room with a bag of ice around his ankle, aided by two men. By Thursday, the Brazilian Federation (CBF) had announced that its famous number 10 "will not (it) not be restored" for the Copa America (14 June-7 July) on which he counted a lot to save his truncated season with the PSG by injuries and scandals.

The player goes through a very delicate period, after a complaint for rape filed in early June in Sao Paulo by a Brazilian who accuses him of abusing her in a hotel in Paris. The player claims his innocence and claims to be a victim of a "trap".
