Switzerland: Euro 2020: the "draw" that suits Switzerland

While our national team competes in the finals of the League of Nations in Portugal, we played Friday night in Group D - that of Switzerland - qualifications for Euro 2020. At Telia Parken in Copenhagen, the clash between Denmark and Ireland - Switzerland's two main rivals - ended with an 1-1, which, in principle, suits Swiss plans. It will still wait until the situation decays a little to be convinced.

The Scandinavians have vainly spared themselves a big half-dozen opportunities before concretizing their domination by Hojbjerg at the 76e minute. As they made their way to a deserved success, Duffy equalized at the 85e, allowing the Irish to remain undefeated in this group D. And at the same time compelling Denmark to concede his second draw after the 3-3 miraculous Basel, the 26 last March.

Georgia does the work

In the other match of the day, Georgia logically defeated Gibraltar 3-0 at Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi, where the Nati had won the 0 2 23 march in start of qualifying campaign. The Georgians had to wait until half an hour to open the mark by Gvilia, then the hour of play to double the bet by Papunashvili. Arveladze, on penalty, sealed the score at 76e.

In the standings, necessarily disjointed, Ireland keeps the lead with seven points, but in three games. Switzerland remains second without playing with two matches and four points. Georgia has "jumped" Denmark in third place in its victory of the day and Gibraltar clings to a red lantern that seems "eternally" destiny.

Spain wins without Luis Enrique

In Group F, Spain has won handsomely in the Faroe Islands (4-1). Ramos has shown the example since the 6e, imitated almost immediately by Jesus Navas. The Ferogians then had the pleasure of scoring - who would have grown against Spain? - but Isco immediately put the church back in the middle of the village before the break. Note that the Spanish coach Luis Enrique had not made the trip to Torshavn, withheld from his family for a family problem.

Polemic absences

Other absences, but in another context and for other reasons, those of the Serbian coach of Montenegro Ljubisa Tumbakovic, as well as players Mirko Ivanic and Filip Stojkovic, also of Serbian origin, during the match against Kosovo.

The local press spoke - and denounced - of a political choice. In this group A, and on a more sporting level, Montenegro and Kosovo left behind back-to-back 1-1.
