Some reactions from the outside facing the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral.

Seen from London: "At such a moment, what folly to pretend that we are not all Europeans"
"My thoughts are tonight with the French and with the emergency services who are fighting the terrible fire of Notre-Dame Cathedral", tweeted British Prime Minister Theresa May, while London Mayor Sadiq Khan declared by the same channel: "London is in sorrow with Paris today, and in friendship always" evoking the "Heartbreaking scenes of Notre Dame Cathedral in flames".
While the fire was still raging, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby said: "Tonight, we pray for the firefighters who are fighting the tragic fire of Notre Dame and for all those in France or elsewhere who are watching and mourning this magnificent sacred place where millions of people have met Jesus Christ."
The message from Becky Clark, Director of Buildings at the Church of England, was hopeful: "St Paul's Cathedral was destroyed in the great fire of London and that of Coventry destroyed by bombs. They have all been reconstructed, sometimes differently, to recall the eternity and resurrection that founds the Christian faith. "
Putting the event in the context of Brexit, the Guardian writes in its editorial: "We have the feeling that the heart of France and the spirit of Europe were suddenly cruelly torn off. (...) At such a moment, what folly to pretend that we are not all Europeans. "

The Pinault family unblocks 100 million euros for Notre-Dame de Paris, announces François-Henri Pinault.

"This tragedy strikes all the French and beyond all those who are attached to the spiritual values. Faced with such a tragedy, everyone wants to give life back to this jewel of our heritage ", writes the president of the family holding and the luxury group Kering.

"My father (François Pinault, editor's note) and myself have decided to release from now on the funds of Artemis a sum of 100 million euros to participate in the effort that will be necessary for the complete reconstruction of Notre Dame" he concludes.
