Having settled its differences with Gécamines and the UK justice, the group Eurasian Resources Group is betting on its Metalkol plant - a project of 650 million - whose copper production has begun. That of cobalt is expected by mid-2019.

At the beginning of the 2019 year, Benedikt Sobotka, CEO of the Kazakh company Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) is smiling again. Its Metalkol plant - located at 25 kilometers south of Kolwezi in the DRC - to produce copper and cobalt from ore tailings, including those left at the Kingamyambo and Musonoi sites, has just started his activities.
